Reclaiming the Word "Witch"

Over the years I’ve met and been personally cast out due to people afraid of one word—witch.

The amount of people who have been abused, put on trial, tortured, and killed over this word for centuries is disgusting.

It’s not hard to imagine that it all started as a way to control women...I could write a book on this but have recommendations below.

”To reclaim the word witch is to reclaim our right, as women, to be powerful."

The Word "Witch"...

The word witch is the phonetic spelling of an Anglo Saxon word wicce, pronounced witch-a.

They were the healers, midwives, herbalists, seers, spiritual guides, and guardians of the community.

Becoming a mother has opened a portal within me. A transformative space, much like Cerredwin’s cauldron, has been brewing in me since my son was born.

He’ll be four years old soon and I find myself embracing my true nature more and more, such as finding my sense of style again (hello, beautiful black and celestial clothing) and rediscovering my daily witchy practice which includes connecting with Goddess, embodying the elements, and working with any tool I choose that day.

I am openly accepting my authentic witch so that he can see magic in everything and one day feel empowered to be himself and treat others with love and compassion. I’m so incredibly grateful to his father, my husband, for loving who I truly am—and being totally fine with magical altars and tools nearly everywhere.

I reclaim the word Witch. I reclaim my Magick. I reclaim my Power. So mote it be.
